"‘Slut-shaming’ isn’t about shaming ‘sluts’. It’s about misogyny. It’s about shutting women down. It’s about hating women. It’s about silencing. You can be labelled a ‘slut’ regardless of whether or not you have or like sex. Whether you’ve had one partner or fifty. It’s doesn’t matter. Just like women get called bitches regardless of their behaviour. Do we go around telling people not to ‘bitch-shame’ us? No, we say that men who call women bitches are sexist assholes who don’t like it when women speak (read: exist)."

I like women to be ladies, and there are certain things ladies don’t do. Ladies don’t dress like two bit whores, ladies dont smoke cigarettes, and ladies don’t drink alcohol and get drunk.

Ladies should be ladies, not sailors.

Hi. I’m Aisha.image

I’m a fucking Sailor and a fucking lady.

image

As a United States Sailor one of my jobs is to protect the rights of fuckwit American civilians like yourself, by killing terrorists and other people America considers a threat to their power.

I smoke. I drink. Sometimes I get a little tipsy. Luckily, there’s always a few Marines to walk me back to my barracks to ensure I don’t hurt myself…since I’m always sporting heels in my civilian clothes.

Sometimes, when I want to engage in the twenty-first century practice of being a free woman who is free to be as sexually active or inactive as she damn well pleases without the care of judgement of people who are NOT cutting her check, paying her bills, or otherwise contributing positivity to her life in any fashion, I dress like an erstwhile “two-bit whore”. Though, I must say, my sexual prowess cannot be bought…and even if it could, I assure you, you could not afford it.

So, OP, I hope you feel as dumb as your post sounds when I tell you it is possible to be a lady AND a Sailor and still be as flawless an individual.

"When a woman enjoys her sexuality without hurting anyone else, but someone finds out about it, the response is to insult her, shame her, bring her down and make sure she never does it again. But the response to rape, and “jokes” about rape, which trivialize and normalize violent, traumatic and sometimes life-threatening acts against women is—somehow—to laugh?"

More shaming

Who is this communist Nazi?

Boobs go wherever their owners want them to go, not where some snobby white girl on tumblr said.

Hey there!

How about…

I keep my boobs…

Wherever I goddamn please, ok?

It should be “YAY, BOOBS!” instead of “SHAME BOOBS!”
It’s all about respecting and celebrating both our own bodies and each others. Get with it. I like my cleavage, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If someone wants to cover up, that’s totally cool, but you shouldn’t shame them into it.
/end soapbox/
(Also, not all girls have boobs, nor do only girls have boobs.)

ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

The Lanthorn has an article (well, editorial) basically saying, “while it’s not your fault for being abused or assaulted, it’s your fault for both getting into that situation and not being able to instantly get out of it unharmed.”

What the fuck?

Seriously? Seriously? The whole thing reeked of “silly women, you’re strong and sassy! You can get out of an abusive relationship—just leave! It’s that easy!” Not like it’s often the most dangerous for the victim when they try to leave, or anything like that.

Because all women in that situation definitely have that simple option.

And then there’s the whole “well, I know what I’m talking about. I have friends who have been abused.” ARGGG. Don’t use their stories and pain to justify your own opinion!

The issue of abuse and assault is so fucking complex and individual to the person, and it’s insane how much the article generalizes and oversimplifies.

And he’s seen “strong, respectful women fight back with their words.”

So hey, if you can’t talk your way out of it, you’re not a strong woman.

Remember ladies, we have that magical instinct of who’s going to assault us. (And only ladies get assaulted, duh. And oh yeah, we’re all heterosexual too.) And we have the power, always, to get out of those abusive relationships. Obviously. So, be careful of who you date. Hell, avoid dating in general. That’s the only way to be safe, and if you do chose to date without a thorough psychological report on your new man, well really, what did you expect?

Wait, maybe we should talk more about how not to assault and abuse people…

Nah, let’s just keep going with this rape culture ideology. Victim blaming is fun! Just make sure you say multiple times that you indeed are not blaming victims. Did you do that? Great! Now you’re officially a jerk! Congrats! Now go out in the world and spread your ignorance, and never ever admit to being wrong. Ever.

(Sorry guys, but I’m in a really pissy mood today. I just found out a friend is going through something personal that relates directly to this, and I’m so full fucking of rage, and I will admit that some of my anger isn’t directed to this article, but to the larger societal problem.)
