"Guys on Reddit are very typically coming from STEM fields - a lot of engineers, a lot of programmers. I really think the complete lack of basic understanding of social justice on Reddit, the lack of understanding of how past oppression continues to exert force on the present, is reflective of a larger failure of a good humanities education. It’s reflective of the increasing early specialization we require of college and even high school kids. Their STEM curriculums don’t require much of a humanities or social science foundation, so they grow up completely unarmed with the tools required to think critically about society, and totally unaware of how social structures shape everyone’s lives - and it’s especially invisible to them as mostly white, middle-class, straight males."

“Why is Reddit so Anti-Women?” Fascinating (and highly sensical) approach here, underscoring what gets lost when education (policy) is viewed as strictly the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields (the globally profitable/innovation-driven ones) at the expense of social/cultural education. AND reinforcing the overall White maleness of STEM fields. Vicious cycle, that.

Miyazaki taps a cigarette from a silver case. The Disney deal suits him, he explains, because he has stuck to his guns. His refusal to grant merchandising rights means that there is no chance of any Nausicaa happy meals or Spirited Away video games. Furthermore, Disney wields no creative control. There is a rumour that when Harvey Weinstein was charged with handling the US release of Princess Mononoke, Miyazaki sent him a samurai sword in the post. Attached to the blade was a stark message: “No cuts.”
The director chortles. “Actually, my producer did that. Although I did go to New York to meet this man, this Harvey Weinstein, and I was bombarded with this aggressive attack, all these demands for cuts.” He smiles. “I defeated him.”

Looks like Miyazaki and his producers are fully aware of the U.S. and Disney’s business of meddling with the works of foreign production.

"Men never ask what they should call women’s pain, so they call us crazy. They call us crazy and they laugh at us. The same men who say women aren’t funny obviously do find women funny. They find women funny at the most inappropriate time: when we’re hurting. There is no sympathy, no empathy, for young women under the influence, on the verge of, or currently breaking down. Girl pain is titillating and amusing disaster porn. In Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes’ case, their celebrity eclipses their humanity; they become the “willing victims” of the public abuse of men. Their inner turmoil, a spectacle, is a living punchline reaction gif, making us ask, “Where are their people?"

Strangely….most of the guys who message me on Grindr are Black. No offense to Black guys, I’m just not attracted (not racist, just a preference). I don’t want to put “No Blacks” on my profile because you know that could come off as racist to some people, but I feel kinda bad just ignoring them. Oh well, just White gay guy problems.
Okay, I’m gonna try to break this down for you. There are literally millions, if not billions, of Black people in the world. And they all have different skintones, facial features, hairstyles, clothing styles, personalities, tastes in music, etc. And yet you have decided there’s not a single Black dude you’d ever find attractive.
I mean, that’s fine, it’s probably better for them if they don’t associate with you, but please don’t pretend it’s not racist. I’m not saying you’re an awful person for this (you’re awful for other reasons, like your username and your total disrespect for Black women), but you’ve got to realize that white people like us can’t help but internalize anti-Blackness, and so your “preferences” can be - and in this case are - racist.
In conclusion, please look at your life and look at your choices because you are being really shitty.
Don’t be so modest. I will say it. This individual is an awful person. I think my girl Mattilda Sycamore sums it up best: “Gay men have forgotten how to have sex. For so long that was supposed to be something gay men were good at, but I’m not so sure anymore. They might be good at the technique but not the openness. Sex should be about opening possibilities, not closing them off.”“On the one hand, people are stating their preference, but on the other, these are not neutral terms. If we were living in a culture where everything was the same, it wouldn’t be a problem. But when sexual preference reinforces dominant systems of power in an unquestioning way, that’s when it becomes problematic.”
Yo, what’s up with that url name? Really, dude?
Reblogging for that awesome second quote up there which I really must save. And for hellnogaycism’s comment.
I’ve seen this dude trolling posts by Black women about appropriation by white gay men. OP is a huge racist douche and should be shunned forever.
